Daily devotion – Christmas is over back to the usual!

Living a Faithful ‘Normal’ Life – Daniel 6:10 “Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.” – Daniel 6:10

Christmas has passed, the decorations are coming down, and life begins to settle back into its usual rhythm. But as the dust settles, what does your ‘normal’ look like? Especially when it comes to your walk with the Lord?

The Example of Daniel
Daniel was a young Hebrew man taken from his home in Israel to the foreign land of Babylon. Everything about his life was changed—his name, his surroundings, even attempts to change his faith. Yet, in the face of pressure, Daniel remained steadfast in his devotion to God.

When a law was passed forbidding him from praying to the God of Israel, Daniel didn’t waver. Instead, he went to his room, opened his windows, and continued his normal habit of praying three times a day.

This wasn’t a dramatic response to a crisis—it was simply Daniel’s normal life.

Consistency in Faith
Daniel teaches us a valuable lesson:

Faithfulness is built on daily habits.
Worship and prayer are not seasonal activities.
True devotion remains steady regardless of external pressures.
As we pack away the decorations and step into the new year, let’s ask ourselves:

Is worshipping God part of my normal routine?
Is prayer a regular, non-negotiable habit in my life?
Do I continue to serve, give, and fellowship faithfully?

Building a God-Honoring Normal
Your faithfulness to the Lord doesn’t need to rely on spiritual highs or special occasions. It should be a daily practice, a lifestyle—one that your family, friends, and children can see and follow.

Just like Daniel, let your normal be defined by:

Daily prayer and worship.
Commitment to God’s Word.
Regular fellowship with other believers.
Faithful service in your local church.

Prayer for 2025 – Lord, help me to establish a ‘normal’ life that honors You daily. May my habits of prayer, worship, and devotion remain steadfast, no matter the circumstances. Let my family and those around me see my love for You reflected in my everyday life. Amen.

As we step into 2025, may your normal reflect an unwavering love and passion for God—just as Daniel’s did.
