Daily devotion – Earthquakes!
Heb 12:27 And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.

In the past 30 days, Australia has had 37 quakes of magnitudes up to 5.0:
As we head towards 2025, I believe we will see a rise in events like earthquakes as we draw closer to Christ’s return. When how and where I have no idea but I believe 2025 will see us witnessing such things increase.
I raise this not to make you anxious but to actually draw your attention to that which your life sits on at this moment – what is the foundation of your life today?
As we watched the vision from the most recent quake in Vanuatu we saw again that when the very ground on which we stand violently shakes there is no place for shelter. Climbing a tree, heading into a building, provide no respite as the earth rumbles and moves violently about you and beneath you!
The writer to the Hebrews validates that our world and all that it is, even the ground on which we all stand, will be shaken.
Isa 13:13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.
In Jesus Olivet discourse, He raised this very issue.
Mat 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
During the Tribulation period of 7 years which commences after the Church is raptured our world will be shaken many times!
Rev 6:12 I watched as the Lamb broke the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake. The sun became as dark as black cloth, and the moon became as red as blood.
Rev 11:13 At the same time there was a terrible earthquake that destroyed a tenth of the city. Seven thousand people died in that earthquake, and everyone else was terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven.
Rev 11:19 Then, in heaven, the Temple of God was opened and the Ark of his covenant could be seen inside the Temple. Lightning flashed, thunder crashed and roared, and there was an earthquake and a terrible hailstorm.
Revelation 16: 17 Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air. And a mighty shout came from the throne in the Temple, saying, “It is finished!” 18 Then the thunder crashed and rolled, and lightning flashed. And a great earthquake struck—the worst since people were placed on the earth. 19 The great city of Babylon split into three sections, and the cities of many nations fell into heaps of rubble.
As we are just days away from Christmas, I pray that your life’s foundation is settled on the Rock that is Jesus Christ.
For the Bible is clear that anything else in this world God will shake until it falls.
The Apostle Paul put it beautifully when he said, 1Co 3:11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have—Jesus Christ.
Remember the words of that old wonderful hymn…”My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name
On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand”
It is a wonderful sense of security to be able to agree with the writer to the Hebrews that our foundation, that is Christ the Rock, cannot and never will be shaken!
