Daily devotion – no room still!
No Room for Them in the Inn – Luke 2:7
“And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.” – Luke 2:7
The word “tolerance” is frequently heard in our world today. It’s a word often spoken by those who are quick to silence any view that differs from their own. Collins Dictionary defines tolerance as:
“The quality of accepting other people’s rights to their own opinions, beliefs, or actions, and the capacity to endure something.”
Our world shouts for tolerance, yet it shows astonishing intolerance toward Jesus Christ.
There is no room for God’s Word, the Bible, in much of our culture.
There is no room for reverence toward God or faith taught to our children.
There is no room for Christ’s teachings on purity, morality, and self-denial in a self-absorbed, narcissistic society.
There is no room for the Cross of Christ and the power of His blood to redeem and cleanse us from sin.
The angel declared: “He will save His people from their sins.” – Matthew 1:21
Yet, so many reject this message, refusing to believe that the Child in the manger is Emmanuel—God with us.
Even in Jesus’ day, the so-called religious and righteous murmured against Him:
“Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?” – Luke 5:30
But Jesus answered with words that echo through time:
“I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” – Luke 5:32
A Challenge for Us Today
The next time you hear someone passionately demanding tolerance, try mentioning the name of Jesus. You might quickly see just how intolerant the world can be toward Him.
Yet, let us not grow silent. In a world with no room for Him, let us be people who make room:
In our hearts
In our homes
In our conversations
Let this Christmas remind us to boldly proclaim:
“There is room in my life for Jesus Christ!”
May we, like the shepherds and wise men, seek Him earnestly and worship Him fully.
Make room for Him today.
Merry Christmas, and may His peace dwell in your heart this season.
