Daily devotion – Time, do you control it or do you waste it?

Pastor Keith   -

The word “hour” occurs 94 times in 87 verses in the KJV. The word “time” occurs 619 times in 562 verses in the KJV.

As I have read the Bible over many years, I have come to understand that God, even though He exists outside our time continuum, uses time in our world very specifically. In other words, He is meticulous in His planning of events and exactly when they are to occur.

We all know the story of the first recorded miracle in the Gospel of John at the wedding in Cana. Jesus introduced us to the way specific time was involved in His ministry:

“Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.” (John 2:4)

Today, we find ourselves on the edge of 2024 and stepping into a New Year, 2025.

As I have grown older, I’ve learned that time is probably our most valuable commodity. Each of us has been given this treasure trove of time by God to live for Him and use it for His glory. In one year, we are given 8,760 hours—that’s 525,600 minutes! No one receives more time in a year than anyone else.

The question is: What have you done in 2024 with your 8,760 hours or 525,600 minutes for the Lord? Out of your weekly schedule, how much time have you given to Christ?

We often waste so much time, yet we all complain about not having enough!

Time is the same for everyone, and you are in charge of your schedule. You may say family, work, and other commitments steal your time. Perhaps, but each of us has 24 hours in every day to steward.

In 2025, take control of your time. Those precious moments God has granted you are opportunities to serve His kingdom. Each day, begin by asking Him to guide your hours and lead you for His glory. At the end of each day, reflect: Was I selfish or neglectful with my time for God? Then commit to making the next 24 hours a priority for Him.

God has given you a great gift called life, and it’s filled with precious time. Treat it as a treasure, and God will bless you as you use as much of it as possible for Him!
