Daily devotion – What happened to us?
Just one day from Christmas Eve and then we finally reach that Day!
But our world is bleeding, it’s angry and it’s growing increasingly evil each day.
Am I speaking in a manner that is ‘over the top’, am I exaggerating?
Cast your mind back not too far in time:
Our home had a back door that could never be locked – never broken in!
People slept outside on mattresses on the lawn in Australia on hot nights – in complete safety
Cars were not locked and many with the keys left in the ignition
Children all walked to and from school safely
There were two genders
Public transport was a pleasure and safe
Everybody got paid in cash
Religious education was taught in every West Australia schools
Everyone belonged to a religious denomination
There was no sport on Sundays and shops, or businesses weren’t open either on that day
We prayed the Lord’s prayer every Friday at our school assembly
Police, schoolteachers, the elderly were all treated with respect and honour
Adults did not curse in front of children
Everyone had heard of and knew who Jesus Christ was
We were thankful for all our service men and women’s sacrifices
Christmas mornings all the kids went out on their street to enjoy their new Christmas presents with mums and dads all watching on
This is not hundreds of years of change or decay – its decades only!
What happened?
Who changed all these things?
What went wrong?
Australia and Australians became increasingly selfish and walked away from God by choice.
And the Churches stopped preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ under the anointing and power of the Holy Spirit. Instead, they became weak social gatherings and dumping grounds for anything broken or no longer of any value!
Gal 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
Gal 6:8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
And so, we find ourselves reaping a whirlwind of discontent and tragedy!
Pro 14:34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
This Sunday I will be giving a special message on the future of our nation – as we Australia, find ourselves on a precipice and teetering on a fearful future.
Let us pray!
