Daily devotion – New Orleans

Pastor Keith   -

Heb 10:25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

A tragic and cruel terrorist attack in New Orleans has 15 dead and 50 plus people injured as we head into 2025. The reality of a fallen world hits us immediately whilst the New Year’s celebrations are still not yet over!

We all hope for things to be better in 2025 and that everybody could live in peace but that is not going to happen. Satan is aware his time is short and he continues to wreak havoc and destruction.

The book of Revelation tells us that future events that will occur during the Tribulation period will be unlike our world has ever seen.

But in chapter 4 of Revelation the Apostle John tells us that the Church of Jesus Christ will be taken from this fallen world into glory.

Then in chapter 5 an amazing massive number, the largest worship choir ever assembled are pictured before the throne of God – 6 And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth. 7 Then He came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne.
8 Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. 9 And they sang a new song, saying:
“You are worthy to take the scroll,
And to open its seals;
For You were slain,
And have redeemed us to God by Your blood
Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,
10 And have made us kings and priests to our God;
And we shall reign on the earth.”
11 Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, 12 saying with a loud voice:
“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
To receive power and riches and wisdom,
And strength and honor and glory and blessing!”
13 And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying:
“Blessing and honor and glory and power
Be to Him who sits on the throne,
And to the Lamb, forever and ever!”

These amazing events are not far away now from us as we begin another New Year. Those who have received Christ as their Lord and Saviour and who are living in expectation of Christ’s soon return can live in hope even in a fallen world. For we know that our Saviour defeated Satan on the Cross. He broke the power of sin and death over each of us and therefore we live now not in fear but in faith.

Knowing that, we are so close now that soon we will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord and forever be with Him in glory.

On Calvary’s Cross the enemy was defeated, and he will soon be cast into the Lake of Fire forever!

Until we hear the trumpet sound, let us read God’s precious Word, let us pray, let us be faithful in our gathering together as His Church for the future days ahead will be like no other in the history of our world!

Mat 24:22 “And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.
