Daily devotion – the lifter of my head!

Pastor Keith   -

Psa 3:3 But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

In my early Christian years this verse from the book of Psalms was one of great comfort to me when I was going through a time of trial or depression. It reminded me that God is the One who can restore hope and revitalise me when I am down.

He alone is able to lift my head up when it is weighed down with troubles and fear. So often when I am overwhelmed my head drops and I am self-consumed with my own struggles and I lose sight of He who is above me and reigning over me. He lifts our head and reminds us that our eyes are to be continually on Him and not upon ourselves.

If we look upon ourselves there is nothing there that can bring hope only self-degradation.

This week if you find yourself looking down, remember the psalmist’s words of hope that God can and is only too willing to lift our heads up once again and see Him on the throne of the world and beyond!

Don’t drop your head this week – Psa 5:3 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

Start each new day looking up and don’t allow the distractions, troubles or storms of the world change the direction of your gaze!
