This week at Calvary Chapel
Welcome to the New Year 2025 at Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour! Today is a Celebration Sunday as we gather for our first communion service of the year this morning. We are also blessed to welcome our guest speaker, Pastor Chris Fisher from Calvary Chapel Albany, who will be sharing in both our morning and evening services. Communion Services in 2025 – This year, communion will alternate monthly between our morning and evening services. January begins with morning communion, and February will feature communion in the evening service. This rotation will continue throughout the year. Evening Services in 2025 – Evening services will follow the same format as our morning services, with one exception: there will be no creche or Sunday school classes provided in the evening. Building Extensions Update – We are currently awaiting the full drawing concept and costings for our building extension plans. Once received and reviewed, these plans will be made available for everyone to view. Please continue to pray for wisdom and guidance for our building project team.
Midweek Prayer & Bible Study- Prayer and Bible study resume this Wednesday at 7:00 PM as we begin our study through the book of Joshua. Our Sunday Evening Series – will commence with Pastor Israel also with his expository teaching through the book of 1 Corinthians. Let us step into 2025 with faith, expectation, and hearts fully surrendered to the Lord!

Pastor’s Pen
This Wednesday, we begin our exciting study in the Book of Joshua. This study will serve as a spiritual platform for 2025, guiding us as we journey with Joshua into the Promised Land and claim the promises God has prepared for us. The time for wandering in the wilderness of unbelief and murmuring is over. This year, as a church, it’s time to mature, grow, and step boldly into the blessings and promises of God. Just as the children of Israel transitioned from being led by a pillar of fire and a cloud to a life of faith, we too are called to embrace a new relationship founded on faith. God desires for us to experience a prosperous, abundant life in Jesus Christ—not a life of spiritual ups and downs, but one of victory, stability, and joy in Him. Just as Joshua took up where Moses left off, we must now step forward in faith, trusting God to lead us into His promises. In 2025, let’s commit to stepping out by faith, embracing all that God has in store for us! Join us this Wednesday as we step into God’s promises together!
Notes on Joshua – Joshua’s original name was “Oshea”, a word meaning salvation. He was also called “Jehoshua” and “Hoshea”. Joshua means ‘Jehovah saves’ and the Greek equivalent of “Joshua” is “Jesus”. Joshua was born in Egypt as a slave. He was 85 years old when he replaced Moses and he had previously served as Moses’ assistant and Israel’s first military commander. The purpose of the first book bearing the name of its author is to teach us how Jesus, our Joshua, would lead us into the place of blessing, give us victory over the enemy, and cause us to enjoy our blessings in the heavenlies in Christ! The key phrase in Joshua is God’s faithfulness!
“Faith is not a blind thing; for faith begins with knowledge. It is not a speculative thing; for faith believes facts of which it is sure. It is not an unpractical, dreamy thing; for faith trusts, and stakes its destiny upon the truth of revelation.” C.H. Spurgeon
