Daily devotion – Changing of the season

Pastor Keith   -

Psa 74:17 You have set all the borders of the earth; You have made summer and winter.

Gen 8:22 “While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer,
And day and night Shall not cease.”

Another summer comes to an end and we now prepare for Autumn here in Australia.

Our state and our nation are heading into two elections, will there be a change in power? We do not know but God is making His plans come to pass. Governments change as do the seasons but I love the verse from Genesis that tells us God’s hand is still directing every event – even our seasons and their changes.

People are upset about the climate and very vocal on what actions must be done as they cry out that man is destroying the planet. Wait til they read the book of Revelation and see what God will do to this world shortly!

Our lives go through seasons as we grow in our walk with God. Periods of victory like summer and times of storms like winter. But God has the handle on how long each will last.

As we prepare for autumn, the change from heat to cold, the shift in what attire we wear, and the days getting shorter, we too must prepare for Christ’s return.

This world has an end date according to the word of God – 2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.

As in the days of Noah there were those who laughed at Noah’s warnings for 120 years as he and his family painstakingly built the ark that would save them.

Then one day it began to rain. And God closed the door!

There was no more laughing for this life on earth for so many was over.

This Sunday we have the opportunity to again prep. ourselves and our family as we gather in worship together. We will celebrate communion together and in the season as God has planned – whether this week or a later date. We will continue to prepare to hear His voice when He eventually calls us home.

Are you ready?

2 Peter 3: 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
Be Steadfast
14 Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless;
