Daily devotion – Deity and Humanity in One!

Pastor Keith   -

Romans 1: 3 concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh, 4 and declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead. 5 Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name, 6 among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ;

The human city of Jesus Christ was the perfect plan of God with the final link in the chain been Mary His early mother – enabling the capacity of the prophecy – ‘the seed of the woman’ which was originally promised in Genesis 3:15.

In verse 4 Paul then tells us of Jesus deity. The declaration is that of the Holy Spirit. And the proof of the declaration is in the Resurrection. Therefore, the birth and the burial of Jesus are linked together.

He who was divinely born was divinely raised!
He who was born in a virgin womb was raised from a virgin tomb!

This makes Jesus Christ unique and at the same time approachable. Because of His deity He has power to rescue us, and because of His humanity He has feeling to understand us.

When Christ’s deity is linked with His humanity, we have a faith that is neither antique, outworn by its age, nor obsolete, or outgrown in its usefulness.

We have a faith that is living and powerful and presently available immediately.

Which is why the writer of Hebrews could say –

Heb 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.

Heb 4:15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

Jesus our Saviour, our Lord and our Good Shepherd – Christianity is amazing!
