Daily devotion – Each new day brings with it hope!
Matthew 24: 36 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. 37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
For many people, life and everyday existence, takes on a mundane repetitive ‘same old same old’ theme. They go about their business, their hobbies, their morning coffee, their fitness regime with a mechanical like metronome beat. Each day is not a new day its just the same day as yesterday.
But for followers of Christ each day is a new day closer to seeing our Lord face to face. Living in expectation of His calling His Church up to meet Him in the air – 1 Thess 4: 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
Each morning when I wake up I check the news of the world, what new and prophetic Biblical events are being unveiled in a world in waiting.
Since receiving Christ as my Lord and Saviour and learning from the Bible of Christ’s soon return, the tribulation period and the judgment of God to fall soon upon our world, within me God has placed a restlessness and disenfranchised relationship with this fallen world.
The early Church lived with this expectancy as did the Apostles, the first disciples of Christ. The Apostle John wrote the last prayer recorded in the New Testament in the book of Revelation – Rev 22:20 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!
This expectancy continues on in every true believers heart today – for very soon will we hear that blessed trump of God!
Tomorrow, yes is a new day, and one filled with great hope, as I await once again what God will bring with its rising sun.
He is coming soon – ready or not!
See you tonight as we study Joshua 8 – “New Beginnings” and as we gather as Christ’s Church to pray here at Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour!
