Daily devotion – What is Christianity?

Pastor Keith   -

The Person of Christianity
“Which He promised before through His prophets in the Holy Scriptures, concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh, and declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead.”
—Romans 1:2-4

From the very beginning, God gave the promise of a Redeemer. After the fall of Adam and Eve, He declared in Genesis 3:15 that the battle between good and evil would be won by a Person—the Seed of the woman—who would crush the serpent’s head. This prophecy was not just words on a page; it was a promise that would be fulfilled in a Person: Jesus Christ.

Many in the world ask, “What is Christianity?” Scholars attempt to define it as a system of faith, a philosophy, or a moral guide. But Scripture declares “Ecce Homo”—”Behold the Man!” Christianity is not merely a belief system; it is a Person. It is Christ Himself!

If man had invented a religion, he would have offered good advice. But the gospel is not good advice—it is Good News! And that Good News is found in Jesus Christ.

As a child, I often wondered what God looked like. Many imagine Him as a distant figure, shrouded in mystery, waiting to judge. But when I received Christ as Lord and Saviour and studied His Word, I saw God clearly. Jesus is not just a messenger; He is the full revelation of God.

Jesus told Philip in John 14:9: “He who has seen Me has seen the Father.”

Jesus answers all my questions about God!

If Christianity is a Person, and that Person is Jesus Christ, then the most important question we must ask is: Who is Jesus Christ?

If we establish the character of Jesus, we establish the character of Christianity. And He is beyond words—He is love, truth, and life itself.

Do you know Him?
