Loving with Grace and Truth
Many people today say, “Jesus wouldn’t judge—He loved everyone.” And while there’s some truth there — Jesus’ love never ignored sin.
In John 8, when a woman caught in adultery was dragged before Jesus, He protected her from condemnation: “Neither do I condemn you.” That’s grace. But then He added, “Go and sin no more.” That’s truth.
Many Christians struggle to find this balance. Some emphasise grace without truth—saying “God loves you, so it doesn’t matter how you live.” Others stress truth without grace, condemning sinners harshly. But Jesus held both perfectly.
Paul reinforces this in 1 Corinthians 5, urging the church to confront unrepentant sin. This wasn’t about legalism but about protecting the body of Christ and calling sinners to repentance to save their souls.
What does this mean for us today?
1️⃣ We must speak the truth, even when culture rejects it.
2️⃣ We must show grace, pointing people to Jesus rather than pushing them away.
3️⃣ We must live like Jesus, balancing boldness for truth with compassion.
Ignoring sin is not love. But neither is beating people down with truth without mercy. Real love calls people to freedom in Christ—where grace forgives, and truth transforms.
May God grant to us His wisdom to find this blessed balance!
