The Power of Prayer for Israel
Genesis 12:1-3
*”Now the LORD had said to Abram:
‘Get out of your country,
From your family
And from your father’s house,
To a land that I will show you.
I will make you a great nation;
I will bless you
And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’”*
The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza has collapsed, with Hamas refusing to release the remaining hostages. Tuesday evening, I picked up our friend and guide from Israel, Yaniv Wainshtan, who will be with us for the next two weeks. He has already provided firsthand, accurate updates on the situation in Israel and the challenges ahead for peace in the land.
It is heartbreaking to hear of the personal losses he has suffered from the October 7 attack and the ongoing war. The heart of Israel longs for peace and an end to hostilities.
As believers, we must continue to pray for the peace of Jerusalem and God’s chosen people. Yaniv will be sharing critical updates so we can be informed and prayerful about the realities on the ground.
But as Christ’s Church, we hold the greatest weapon for peace—the power of prayer. Let us stand in the gap, seeking God’s will and interceding for His people, that His purposes may be fulfilled on earth as it is in heaven!
