Daily devotion – Our precious salvation.
The Divine Call of Salvation
John 6:44 – “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.”
One of the most profound truths about salvation is that God Himself is both the author and finisher of our faith. It is not by our own efforts or wisdom that we come to Christ, but by the sovereign drawing of the Father. He moves upon our hearts, awakening us to the reality of our sin and our need for a Savior. Without His divine initiative, we would remain lost.
Yet, in His grace, God has provided a way—through His Son, Jesus Christ—so that we may receive forgiveness and eternal life. The Bible declares:
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)
When we pause to reflect on this, it is overwhelming. The very God who created the universe in six days, who spoke the world into existence, is the same God who personally called you to salvation. He is not distant or indifferent—with God, salvation is personal. He desires all to be saved (2 Peter 3:9), yet He has given mankind the free will to respond or reject His call.
But for those who do respond, there is an incredible promise: our salvation is secure in Christ. If it was God who drew us to Him, then it is also God who keeps us. Jesus assures us in John 10:28:
“And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”
This truth should fill us with gratitude and confidence. We did not earn our salvation, and we cannot lose it—because it is rooted in the power and faithfulness of God.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for drawing me to Yourself and for securing my salvation through Jesus Christ. I am humbled by Your love and mercy. Help me to live in the assurance of Your grace, always trusting that You are faithful to complete the work You have begun in me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
