The Power of God’s Word
2 Thessalonians 3:1-5
“Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you, and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for not all have faith. But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. And we have confidence in the Lord concerning you, both that you do and will do the things we command you. Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ.”

In his letter to the Thessalonian church, the Apostle Paul asks for prayer. Let us never hesitate to ask others to pray for us. But notice Paul’s priority—his request is not for comfort, safety, or success, but that God’s Word would spread and be glorified.

Paul does not ask for better church programs, marketing strategies, or promotional campaigns. Today, much Christian work relies on human planning and clever ideas, rather than on the power of God’s Word.

Let us not forget that the universe itself was created and is sustained by the Word of God:
“By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.” (Hebrews 11:3)

Surely, if God’s Word created all things, it is also sufficient to accomplish His work in this world. Yet, many pulpits have traded preaching for entertainment, replacing the eternal Word of God with temporary distractions.

Lastly, if you are a parent, read and speak God’s Word to your children—no matter their age, even if they have left home. God’s Word will never return void (Isaiah 55:11).

Let it be your guide and light this week in all that you do!
