Daily devotion – Easter reveals the type of soil in our hearts.

What Kind of Soil Am I This Easter? 🌿

“But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces…” – Matthew 13:23

What a joy it was to gather together at our special outdoor Olive Garden service last Wednesday night—to worship under the open skies, to sing so that all could hear, and to hear God’s Word together as the family of Christ. Moments like that remind us that this is the life of a believer in the Last Days—bold, visible, worshipful, and rooted in truth.

As that same very moon rose above us, shining as it did over the Garden of Gethsemane 2,000 years ago, we were reminded: God is amazing. His presence is with us, His story continues, and we are part of it.

Now we move closer to Easter 2025. How will you and your family celebrate?
What will your children think about, talk about, pray about as Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday draw near? Will they have questions about the Cross, about the pain and power of Calvary, and the glory of the empty tomb?

This world views Easter as a four-day holiday. But to us, Easter is the very heart of the Gospel—God’s staggering plan of redemption coming into full colour.

Yet Easter also confronts us.
Jesus told a parable in Matthew 13 about the four types of soil, representing the condition of the human heart when receiving the Word of God.

So the question today is simple but sobering:
Which soil is your heart this Easter?

🌾 Is it the hard wayside, where the seed is quickly snatched away by the enemy before it has a chance to take root?

🌾 Is it stony ground, where there’s excitement at first, but no depth—and faith withers when life gets hard?

🌾 Is it thorny ground, where the Word is choked out by the worries of this life, by worldly pursuits, and the deceitfulness of riches?

🌾 Or is it good soil—soft, ploughed, ready to receive the Word deeply and bear lasting fruit?

This Easter, the soil of your heart matters. Let the Holy Spirit break up the hard places. Pull out the weeds. Clear the rocks.

Let your heart be good soil—ready to receive His Word, respond in obedience, and rejoice in the power of the Risen Saviour.

Easter is coming… so is the King.
Let your heart be ready. 🌿
