đź’§ Devotion: We Know His Name! đź’§
đź“– John 17:6
“I have manifested Your name to the men whom You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours, You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word…”
Jesus, in His powerful prayer before the cross, declared something profound—He had revealed the very name of God to those the Father had given Him. This wasn’t merely about a title; this was about revealing the very nature and character of God.
In the Old Testament, God’s name was revered as Jehovah, the I AM—the One who is eternal, self-existent, and unchanging (Exodus 3:14). But in the New Testament, Jesus takes that sacred name and wraps it in relationship:
I AM the Bread of Life
I AM the Light of the World
I AM the Good Shepherd
Each of these “I AM” statements revealed how the great I AM meets our deepest needs—physically, emotionally, spiritually.
But Jesus went further. He didn’t just show the power and provision of God—He introduced us to God as Father.
In fact, in John’s Gospel, the word Father is used 122 times, and 53 times in chapters 13–17 alone!
Why? Because Jesus wants us to grasp something vital:
The heart of God is that of a loving Father.
He’s not distant, not uncaring, not harsh. His name—His nature—is love, protection, patience, provision, discipline, guidance, and unshakable presence.
So this week, remember:
🌿 You know His name.
🌿 You know His heart.
🌿 You know who He is.
When anxiety comes, call upon His name.
When fear rises, trust in His nature.
When you feel alone, remember—you are His, and He is yours.
đź“– John 17:11
“Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me…”
You are kept in the power of His name. You are safe in the arms of your Father.
🤍 May you walk this week knowing His Name—knowing His nature—and resting in the love of your Heavenly Father.
