Daily devotion – Stop for a moment!

A Moment with the Living God

There are moments when God speaks suddenly and clearly, prompting us to stop whatever we are doing. He wants to speak to our hearts right then and there. This morning, as I was simply tying my shoes, He met me in one of those sacred moments.

We do not worship a god of stone or wood. We worship the Living God—the One who spoke with power and compassion to a broken woman at a well. Jesus had been waiting for her to arrive and draw water, just as He often waits for us.

John 4:19–26
The woman said to Him, “Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet. Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship.”
Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father… the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.”
The woman said, “I know that Messiah is coming”…
Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He.”

In such moments, I’m reminded of Isaiah’s vision in chapter 6—when he saw the throne of God. Like Isaiah, I become aware of my unworthiness, yet also deeply aware of God’s overwhelming love and grace. I can’t help but stop, say nothing, and sit back in awe of Him.

Maybe your week has been full—rushing from one task to another. Perhaps you haven’t paused to simply sit in His presence. But know this: God has been with you all along, waiting… waiting for you to stop and acknowledge Him.

Sometimes He misses your attention so much, He gently taps you on the shoulder and whispers, “Remember Me?”

Tonight is Wednesday night discipleship at Calvary—a time for the study of God’s Word and prayer, together with the body of Christ, led by our Lord. The message God pressed on my heart this morning is this:

He is looking forward to being with us all tonight.

When I stop and sit in His presence, His blessings wash over me, and the direction and health of my life are realigned by His loving hands.

This week, I pray that He, the Creator of Heaven and Earth, will tap you on the shoulder and draw you into a moment alone with Him.
