Daily devotion – The growing war machines!

Pastor Keith   -

Recent headlines are sounding louder than ever with warnings of looming global conflict. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer recently announced a vast military expansion, including the building of up to 12 new attack submarines and a £15 billion renewal of the UK’s nuclear arsenal. NATO members, spurred by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, are breaking records in defence spending. Germany has now overtaken the UK as Europe’s largest military spender for the first time since the Cold War.

This widespread rearmament isn’t mere coincidence—it aligns with the prophetic timeline of Revelation.

When the Lamb opens the first seal, John sees a rider on a white horse. He holds a bow, not a sword, and wears a crown given to him—he comes offering peace but has conquest in his heart. This figure represents the Antichrist, who will rise to global prominence after the Rapture of the Church. He will appear as a man of peace, a unifier, and a brilliant political leader. The world will embrace him.

But the second seal reveals the truth behind his rise.

The fiery red horse is released. Its rider is given power “to take peace from the earth,” and he bears a great sword. This sword represents the vast military power now being assembled. The peace the Antichrist promised will crumble, and global conflict will explode under his reign. The nations he deceived will become the instruments of his oppression. This “great sword” is not just symbolic—it points to the very real militarization we are witnessing today.

Jesus warned us of this very hour:

“And you will hear of wars and rumours of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.” – Matthew 24:6

And Daniel foresaw the same Antichrist using his military might to invade Jerusalem and stop worship in the rebuilt Temple during the Tribulation:

“And forces shall be mustered by him, and they shall defile the sanctuary fortress; then they shall take away the daily sacrifices, and place there the abomination of desolation.” – Daniel 11:31

Church, we are living in the shadow of these coming events.

The preparations for war we now see are not just geopolitical—they are prophetic.

Let us not grow sleepy or distracted in these final hours. The call is clear:

“And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of His return is drawing near.” – Hebrews 10:25 (NLT)

Be watchful. Be faithful. Jesus is coming soon.
