Daily devotion – The time is short
The Winds of Hatred and the Church’s Call
Hosea 8:7 – “They sow the wind, and reap the whirlwind.”
Isaiah 5:20–21 – “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil… Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes…”
Each morning as I read the Letters to the Editor in The West Australian, I notice a growing trend of hostility toward the nation of Israel. Fueled by the salacious lies spread by much of the Western media, this animosity reveals a society that has thrown conscience to the wind. As Scripture warns, we are now reaping the whirlwind.
On Saturday, October 7, approximately 3,000 Hamas-led terrorists infiltrated Israel’s southern border, attacking civilians and soldiers. Nearly 1,200 people were murdered, hundreds abducted, and thousands injured. And yet, astonishingly, the murder and torture of innocent Israeli lives has been brushed aside. This is not new — it’s the same propaganda machine Satan used in Nazi Germany, only now it is global.
Isaiah prophesied of such a time when people would “call evil good and good evil.” We are watching this unfold before our eyes. People praise terrorism while condemning righteousness. They claim wisdom, yet are blind to truth.
In this escalating darkness, the Church has a vital role. We are not called to be silent. We are called to teach the Word of God — the only truth that can expose lies and shine light into a darkening world. We must pray, because prayer is our weapon. Without prayer and the Spirit-filled Church standing in the gap, the tidal wave of hatred would already have consumed far more.
Every time the Church gathers,
every time the Word is preached,
every time God’s people kneel in prayer,
the enemy suffers loss.
2 Thessalonians 2:6–7 reminds us that the Holy Spirit, working through the Church, is what restrains evil even now. But once the Church is removed — following the rapture — the lawless one will be revealed, and the world will plunge into tribulation. For seven years, the hatred of Israel and everything godly will be unleashed like never before.
Until that day, we must cast off everything that holds us back:
Hebrews 12:1 – “…let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us…”
James 1:21 – “Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.”
The time is short. God’s prophetic plan is unfolding before us. The battle is real — but so is the victory.
Revelation 19:11–16 – “Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True… And on His robe and on His thigh a name was written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.”
Jesus is coming — and He will reign in righteousness. Until then, let us stand firm, speak truth, pray earnestly, and shine brightly in a world that desperately needs the light of Christ.
