Daily devotion – Where is your Bible?

The Word of God in a World at War

The world watches the unfolding events in Israel, uncertain of what will happen next. Many wonder: will former U.S. President Donald Trump lead America to step in militarily on Israel’s behalf? The United States possesses the only 30,000-pound “bunker buster” bombs capable of striking Iran’s deeply buried nuclear facilities.

If the U.S. decides to directly support Israel in striking Iran, one possible option would be deploying these “bunker busters” to target the Fordow nuclear fuel enrichment plant—hidden deep inside a mountain. Such a strike would require a U.S. B-2 bomber, the only aircraft capable of carrying and deploying these weapons. This would carry profound global consequences.

If Iran’s nuclear capacity is neutralized, could we witness the overthrow of Iran’s Islamic regime? Perhaps—but regardless of what happens geopolitically, Iran remains a key player on the prophetic stage. The prophet Ezekiel was clear:

“And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal: And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army… Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them…”
— Ezekiel 38:3–5

Here, Persia—modern-day Iran—is listed as part of the end-times coalition that will come against Israel.

Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has rejected President Trump’s call for unconditional surrender, warning the U.S. of retaliation should it intervene. His threats align with what many analysts and prophecy students observe: Iran remains unyielding and aggressive.

There are some things in the Bible we cannot fully understand. Pastor Chuck Smith wisely reminded us, “Where the Bible is silent, so must we be.” But the Bible is not silent about the season we are living in.

“But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you… For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night…”
— 1 Thessalonians 5:1–3

God’s Word has told us clearly what to expect. We are not in darkness. We are children of the day, and we are to live alert, sober, and prepared. The world’s media, politicians, and scholars cannot predict with certainty what will unfold—but God’s Word gives us an anchor, a sure foundation. In this we can comfort our children, our families, and our churches.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort…”
— 2 Corinthians 1:3

But this comfort is reserved for those who are people of His Word—who know the Scriptures.

The Bible warns that in the Last Days, there will be a famine of the knowledge of God.

“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves… having a form of godliness but denying its power…”
— 2 Timothy 3:1–5
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…”
— Hosea 4:6

I continue to see people attend church or Bible study without a Bible in hand. A wise person once said, “This Book will keep you from sin, or sin will keep you from this Book.”

Every morning, I open my Bible and read God’s precious Word. Without fail, He speaks to my heart. I begin my day strengthened, prepared, and grounded—ready to walk through whatever may come.

So I urge you: in these Last Days, be a person of the Word. Do not follow the path of destruction Hosea describes. Instead, hold fast to the truth, and let God’s Word guide you.

“If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
— John 8:31–32

And may your Bible pages become worn, dog-eared, and marked—not from neglect, but from use. May you be known as one who rightly divides the Word of truth.

“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
— 2 Timothy 2:15

Amen.
