Daily devotion – An appointment with God.

God Has an Appointment With You This Sunday

Friday evening begins to settle, and for most, the working week has come to a close. We now stand just one day away from gathering together as Christ’s body—His Church—to worship Him and sit under the teaching of His holy Word.

The question is: What does God have in store for me this Sunday? What will His Word teach me? Will I be corrected? Encouraged? Comforted?
One thing is certain—God will speak to my heart, and He will have something personal to reveal to me.

King David expressed how deeply his soul longed for God:
“As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God.” – Psalm 42:1

I still remember the first Sunday Helen and I attended church after giving our hearts to the Lord on a Tuesday evening back in March 1977. As the Bible was taught, I sat in awe—amazed at how powerful and wonderful God’s Word was, and how deeply enjoyable it was to hear it explained. This excitement and anticipation has never waned.

This Sunday, before you make your way to church, take time to seek the Lord in prayer. Ask Him to prepare your heart and to speak to you during the morning and evening gatherings. If you do this—faithfully and expectantly—then the moment the preacher says, “Let’s open our Bibles to…” you will be like that deer, thirsting eagerly for the refreshing streams of God’s truth.

“How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!” – Psalm 119:103

God has an appointment with you this Sunday. Don’t miss it!
