Daily devotion – No mundane idle chatter any more!

Pastor Keith   -

Have you ever wondered what the early Church believers spoke about after Peter’s mighty sermon in Acts 2, when the Church was born? Many among them had seen Christ personally, and now, by the grace of God, had been brought into the body of Christ through the work of the Holy Spirit.

Acts chapter 2 gives us a beautiful glimpse into those early days. The believers gathered daily, listened to the apostles’ teaching, praised God together, and lived with gladness and simplicity of heart. What a blessing it must have been to hear them speak to one another of the wonders of God—the things they had seen, the miracles unfolding, and all that God was doing in His Church.

“Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need.
So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.”
— Acts 2:41–47

As we journey through the book of Revelation together and live in what the Bible clearly identifies as the Last Days, I’ve noticed that nearly every conversation I have with fellow believers eventually turns to what Revelation reveals is soon to come upon the world. Just today, while speaking with a brother in Christ, we again found ourselves marveling over the unfolding prophetic events described in its pages.

When we gather, we always have a choice: to drift into trivial topics, or to direct our conversations toward the deep truths of God’s Word and what they mean for us today. How much richer and more encouraging our fellowship becomes when we speak of Christ, His return, and His coming kingdom.

This week, be prayerfully intentional. Let the Holy Spirit lead your conversations. Point one another to Christ, to the hope of His return, and to the truths the Bible declares are soon to come to pass.

It may just transform an ordinary chat into a moment of eternal encouragement—and it will most certainly never be boring!

Just a footnote for those who missed Revelation chapter 6 Sunday mornings sermon due to our technical issues – our media team has been able to bring it to life and now it is available to watch on our web page – praise the Lord!
