Fragrance of Wrath and Worship – A Preview of Revelation 15
Revelation 15 is one of the most sobering yet hope-filled chapters in Scripture. It shows us “closing time” for human history as we know it. God’s patience, long extended over hundreds of centuries, finally reaches its end. Seven angels appear with the seven last plagues — signs that God’s wrath will at last be complete.
This is not a picture of a vengeful God lashing out, but of a holy God bringing just judgment upon sin. From Eden to the present, the Lord has been “slow to anger, abounding in steadfast love” (Psalm 103:8). Even in the Great Tribulation, He has sent witnesses, the 144,000, and an angel declaring the everlasting gospel. But Revelation 15 reminds us that mercy, though wide, will not be endless. One day, God will say, “Enough.”
And yet, alongside wrath we hear worship. John sees those who overcame the beast singing by the crystal sea (sea of glass) — the Song of Moses and the Song of the Lamb. Their voices declare God’s works as great, His ways as just, and His glory as certain. Their example calls us to lift our own song of praise, not because life is easy, but because God is good.
Tomorrow night, we’ll open this passage together in our Prayer and Discipleship service at 7:00 p.m. Here we’ll reflect on God’s holiness, the urgency of the gospel, and the call to worship even in the face of trials. After the teaching, we will spend time in prayer — interceding for our church, our community, our nation, and the work of God globally.
We invite you to join us for this vital service. Come ready to hear from God’s Word, and to seek His face in prayer. In a world that feels increasingly dark, may we be those who shine with hope, and who sing with faith in the Lamb who reigns.
