What’s on this week
Welcome to Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour today! We place a strong emphasis on the expository teaching of God’s Word. We encourage you to have your Bible with you as we study together so you can follow closely as the message is preached. If you would like to know how to receive Christ today as your Lord and Saviour, please meet with one of our pastors at the front of the sanctuary immediately after the message. We will pray with you, share the relevant Scriptures, and also provide you with a new Bible to help you begin your walk with God.
For those unable to attend a service, you can keep up with our Bible teaching online at ccsh.com.au. If you are restricted by illness and cannot join us in person, we invite you to connect with our live-streaming service or watch through our YouTube channel. Simply search Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour on YouTube.
📖 Calvary Women – Your Tuesday morning Bible study meets this week at the chapel, beginning at 9:30am. Don’t miss this time of fellowship and encouragement!
💪 Calvary Men – Friday, 26th September is our important men’s evening here at the chapel. This will be a very practical, hands-on night as we consider real-life scenarios that can happen in church, and how we, as men of God, are to be prepared. A must-attend for all CCSH men!
🙏 Discipleship Night – Join us this Wednesday evening as we gather to pray. It is only through the prayers of the Church that God’s power is released in all that happens here at CCSH.

From the Pastor’s Pen
Have you ever shared the Gospel with a stranger? Or even with someone close to you? Have you invited anyone to join you on Sunday for worship at church? Have you ever offered to pray for someone in need, even if you didn’t know them?
These are simple acts of faith, yet many Christians struggle with them. Some are afraid of being rejected or mocked. Others feel they wouldn’t know what to say. But the Great Commission that Jesus gave His Church is clear: “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.”
— Mark 16:15–16
So why do we find this so difficult? The answer is that we are in a spiritual battle. Too often we attempt these things in our own strength—without prayer, without a steady walk in God’s Word, without reliance on the Spirit—and we stumble.
But here is the encouragement: Jesus never commands us to do something without also giving us the help to obey. When we commit these matters to Him in prayer, when we daily read His Word, when we yield to His Spirit, what once seemed daunting becomes a natural part of walking with Christ.
Paul rebuked the Galatians for trying to live the Christian life in their own strength rather than by the Spirit. The disciples too once struggled, unable to cast out a demon from a young boy. When they asked Jesus why, He answered:
“This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.”
— Mark 9:29 The lesson is clear: the power to witness, to pray, to serve, and to live faithfully comes only through prayer, God’s Word, and dependence on His Spirit.
Let us not shrink back in fear or self-doubt, but step forward in faith, trusting the Lord who sends us is also the One who empowers us.

Helen’s heart
My purpose is that they be encouraged in heart and united in love – Col 2:2 The popular Marvel series highlights the hero who achieves the impossible against all odds. It resonates with Christians, the aim to press on despite the opposition. But we know from experience this is not so easily achievable – we can be despondent, have doubts, lack courage and fall under the weight of criticism and lack of support. How important are our simple words of encouragement to each other. The writer of Hebrews urges – Encourage one another daily as long as it is called today….Hebrews 13:13. Don’t be silent – your words are powerful tools.
