Daily devotion – Driven to preach and to serve!

Pastor Keith   -

In Daniel 4, we read the remarkable testimony of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon as he gives praise and honour to the God of Daniel.

The once-proud king now had a new passion in his life — and he had to tell the world what God had done for him.

Each week, as I prepare the messages here at Calvary along with Pastor Israel and the rest of the leadership, we are stirred again and again by an insatiable desire to study and share God’s Word with God’s people. Then on Wednesdays, we gather once more to pray down the will of God upon our nation.

This is a drive fuelled by our love for Christ and the continual refilling of the Holy Spirit. It is the very reason for our existence — to serve God and to bring Him glory.

It is this same passion that moved each of the disciples to give their lives as martyrs for their Lord, taking the Gospel of Jesus as far as their feet could carry them and to as many ears as would hear.

Paul wrote of this divine compulsion that propelled his life until the Lord called him home:

“For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of, for necessity is laid upon me; yes, woe is me if I do not preach the gospel!” — 1 Corinthians 9:16

I pray to see God raise up young men and women here at CCSH — and anyone else who senses the call of God upon their lives — to let the breath and life of God fill the sails of their journey and move completely in His will.

Is God calling you to such a life?

Mat 22:14 “For many are called, but few are chosen.”

By surrendering your life to all that God has for you, you too will discover that perhaps you are also chosen!
