Daily devotion – Planning God’s way!

Pastor Keith   -

Proverbs 5:21 – For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and He ponders all his paths.
James 4:13–15 – Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.”

We continue to watch as peace plans are being spoken of for Gaza at this moment in Egypt. What will happen, we simply do not know. We pray for peace to come to Israel and that all forty-nine hostages will finally be delivered home to their waiting families.

We all make plans—seeking to shape our future and prepare for what lies ahead. Yet as followers of Christ, we have the blessed assurance that when we bring our plans before the Lord, asking that His will be done, He will guide and direct our steps perfectly.

The Bible tells us clearly that only God knows the future. Therefore, as we place our plans in His hands, we can rest in the confidence that He will lead us in the way that is right and best.

Proverbs 16:9 – A man’s heart plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps.
Psalm 37:23 – The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, and He delights in his way.

With this knowledge, we need never be anxious or fearful about the future. We can make plans, yes—but we must always remain open to the Lord changing our direction, keeping us safe, and leading us to those green pastures and still waters that He alone provides.

Far too many churchgoers worry about their future, and are anxious about how their plans will unfold. But this should never be the case for those who truly desire God’s will above all else.

Often our anxiety comes from fearing that God may not agree with our plans or allow us to have our way. Yet, we must remember—His plans are always better. When we desire the Lord’s path above our own, we discover the true joy of walking in His will and the very best that He has prepared for our lives. For only God knows what that is!

Heavenly Father, thank You that our lives are always before Your eyes. You see every step we take and every path we plan. Teach us to commit all our ways to You and to trust that Your will is perfect. Calm our anxious hearts when we don’t understand what lies ahead, and help us to rest in Your wisdom and care. Direct our steps, Lord, and lead us into the plans You have prepared for us—plans that bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
