Daily Devotion – A man called Enoch
Hebrews 11:5-6 – Genesis 5: “And then there was Enoch…!”
Micah 6:8 – “He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?”
Our world is full of emptiness. Suicide, broken families, and a hunger for purpose are evidence that despite our knowledge and progress, humanity remains spiritually lost. People fill the void with temporary distractions—social media, entertainment, and fleeting pleasures—but the heart still longs for the Light of Christ.
From the beginning, since the Fall, sin has brought sorrow, fear, and death (Genesis 3; Romans 6:23). Every life, except one, in Genesis 5 ends in death—except Enoch.
Enoch: A Life That Pleased God
Genesis 5 tells us:
“And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.”
Hebrews 11:5-6 reminds us:
“By faith Enoch was translated so that he did not see death, for he pleased God…without faith it is impossible to please Him.”
Enoch’s life shows us what it means to truly walk with God:
Move in God’s direction – Enoch lived under God’s divine guidance, not his own. Trusting God’s plan, he aligned his steps with His.
Live in agreement with God – Walking with God means full surrender. No personal agenda, no opposition to His Word.
Mutual trust – Enoch trusted God completely, and God revealed His plan to him (Jude 14-15).
Keep in step with God – Not ahead, not behind. Faithful obedience every day, every decision, in rhythm with the Spirit of God.
Today – Are you walking with God today, or wandering in your own way? It’s never too late to start.
Begin with:
Daily prayer and Scripture reading.
Serving others in God’s church and community.
Living in repentance and surrender.
Remember, Enoch walked with God for 300 years after a turning point in his life. Likewise, your life can change when you begin walking in step with Him, trusting His plan, and living for His glory.
Ask yourself the following:
Am I moving in God’s direction or my own?
Do I trust God completely in every area of my life?
Am I walking in agreement and step with Him daily?
“Will you take your first step with Him today?”
Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the LORD with all your heart…He shall direct your paths.”
Joshua 22:5 – “…to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways…”
