The Power of a Course Correction

( READ 2 Corinthians 13)

Self-examination has power — not to condemn us, but to correct us.

Paul’s heart toward the Corinthians was pastoral, not punitive. “We pray that you may do what is right… Our authority is for building up, not tearing down.” (vv. 7–10)

Think of a ship’s captain before a long voyage. He checks the compass, the charts, the instruments — not because he doubts his skills, but because one small error can lead miles off course. Spiritual life is no different. Small compromises today can become shipwrecks tomorrow.

Perhaps the Spirit has been nudging you lately — about pride, bitterness, neglect, or spiritual complacency. That’s not rejection; that’s relationship. Hebrews 12 says God disciplines those He loves. Every conviction is an invitation to correction.

Examination allows for mid-course correction before disaster strikes. When you realign to God’s truth, you rediscover joy and stability. Don’t ignore the warning lights. Pull over. Let His grace adjust your course. The safest people in the kingdom are those who let God check the compass often.
