Daily devotion – Happy and Blessed New Year 2026.
Day 1, 2026
Exodus 13:21
“And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night.”
Day 1 of 2026—what a wonderful day to begin a new book of the Bible for daily devotions and journalling. What lies ahead for each of us in this New Year is known intimately by God.
Helen and I pray that the Lord would go before us in 2026, paving the way for us to walk in His will. We ask Him to go before us in the days ahead—to protect us, to guide us, and to drive the enemy away from wherever God will lead us.
We pray this with confidence because this is exactly what God did for His children when they left Egypt and journeyed toward the Promised Land under Moses’ leadership. The Lord did not merely send them—He went before them.
Exodus 23:27–28
“I will send My fear before you, I will cause confusion among all the people to whom you come, and will make all your enemies turn their backs to you. And I will send hornets before you, which shall drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite from before you.”
Therefore, whatever the enemy may seek to throw at us in the coming year, we can have confidence that the Lord has already gone before us. He is not reacting to our future—He is already present in it.
God holds our future securely in His hands, ordering even our smallest steps:
Psalm 37:23
“The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, and He delights in his way.”
What an amazing year this New Year will be—lived in the might, strength, and power of the Lord who goes before His people.
