Daily devotion – The Virgin Birth
Isa 7:14 “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.
Mat 1:23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”
God With Us
This Christmas we pause to marvel at the miracle promised in Isaiah 7:14 and fulfilled in Matthew 1:23—that a virgin would give birth to a Son, and His name would be Immanuel: God with us.
The virgin birth is far more than a beautiful Christmas detail. It is God breaking into our world in the most humble way so that He could draw near to us.
Why This Matters for Our Hearts
Jesus came as God in human flesh, choosing to experience life as we do—joys, sorrows, temptations—yet without sin.
He knows what it feels like to walk this earth, and so He can walk closely with you.
He came not only to reveal God to us, but to save us, to carry our sins, to defeat Satan, and to open the way home to the Father.
He came as the God-Man, our sympathetic High Priest who understands our weaknesses and invites us to come boldly for help.
And He came as the King who reigns forever—and the Judge who is perfectly fair because He lived among us.
All of this began in a quiet moment in Bethlehem, through a young virgin who simply believed God.
This Christmas, may we remember:
Jesus came in this miraculous way so that He could be near you, redeem you, help you, and dwell with you—Immanuel, God with us.
