Daily devotion – There is Someone in the boat with you!
Mark 4:38
“And He was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake Him, and say unto Him, Master, carest Thou not that we perish?”
There are times when we as believers simply don’t see the forest for the trees. The disciples cried out in fear, yet failed to reason this simple truth: Jesus was in the boat with them. If the boat was going down, it would involve everyone on board—including Him.
If Jesus Christ is in your boat, it cannot sink.
If Jesus Christ is in your life, you will not go under.
The Lord has promised to finish what He started:
“Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” — Philippians 1:6
And yet, when storms rage around our lives, we can begin to think that God does not care… that He is silent… that He is asleep to our predicament.
But the prophet Zephaniah reminds us:
“The LORD your God in the midst of you is mighty.” — Zephaniah 3:17
Jesus was not anxious in the storm. He was not wondering how it would turn out. He was resting in His love, fully aware that the storm would not have the final word.
The same is true for you.
Christ is not uncertain about your outcome. He knows He will see you through. And if Jesus is at rest, then you can rest as well.
Trust the One who is in the boat.
