Daily devotion: What to look forward to in 2026.

Pastor Keith   -

As we step into the New Year 2026, we are reminded that each day is a gift from God—a fresh opportunity to share the Gospel with those around us, whether they are loved ones or strangers whom God leads us to!

The Apostle Peter before the Lord took him home gave us some great advice with his last words before he was crucified upside down – 2 Peter 3: 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

Maybe things have not been well with you, today the Lord wants to remind us all that we each have something wonderful, and amazing to look forward to, no matter the struggles or storms we find ourselves in at this time.

Jesus is now one year closer to each of us in calling us home, to be with Him forever! Also we are that much closer to a most wondrous reunion with our loved ones who have already gone to be with our Lord.

In addition, as we see what appears evil getting away with so much in our fallen world, very soon the Lord will bring His righteous judgment and then glorious peace, when Christ returns to take His seat on the throne of David in blessed Jerusalem.

We will grow weary in our serving the Lord but let us encourage each other knowing the time is short and that our labours are not in vain – Gal 6:9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

Let us, each time we gather together as His body here at Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour, pray one for another and exhort one another into continuing to run the race Jesus has set before each of us.

Time is short and but then the glory of Heaven and the face our Lord will ever be before our gaze – let us think on these things and know God is good, all the time!
