Daily devotion – No easy road.
2 Tim 3: 12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. 13 But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But you must continue in the things which you have learned
God does not promise His Church an easy road—but He does promise power for the journey.
The early Church did not pray for persecution to stop, nor did they ask for safety, comfort, or acceptance from the world. Instead, they prayed for boldness to continue speaking the Word of God and for the power of the Holy Spirit to remain upon them. And God answered—not by removing the pressure, but by increasing their strength. The place where they prayed was shaken, and they were all filled again with the Holy Spirit.
The Church today faces a similar moment. We live in a world that is increasingly hostile to biblical truth, intolerant of Christ-centered living, and resistant to the authority of God’s Word. The temptation is to retreat, to soften the message, or to pray for an easier path. But Scripture calls us to something greater—to stand firm, speak boldly, and trust fully in the power of the Holy Spirit.
When the Church prays in unity, when God’s people refuse fear and compromise, and when we choose obedience over comfort, God still moves. He still fills His people with power. He still shakes the ground—not always physically, but spiritually—through transformed lives, courageous witness, and unwavering faith.
May we be a Church that does not ask for lighter burdens, but for stronger shoulders. Not a Church that seeks applause from the world, but approval from God. And when persecution comes, may it find us on our knees in prayer, filled with the Holy Spirit, boldly proclaiming that Jesus Christ is Lord—no matter the cost.
