Daily devotion – We can fulfil a need!

Pastor Keith   -

Luke 19:31
“And if anyone asks you, ‘Why are you loosing it?’ thus you shall say to him, ‘Because the Lord has need of it.’”

Have you ever had to buy a gift for someone who already seems to have everything?

In our text today, we read the words, “Because the Lord has need of it.” There is a beautiful irony here. Jesus—the Creator of heaven and earth—would have need of anything at all. And yet, throughout His earthly ministry, He chose to work through what others were willing to place into His hands.

He had need of:

A boat from which to teach the multitudes — Luke 5:3

Loaves and fish to feed the hungry crowd — Matthew 15:34

A coin to make a profound point about authority and allegiance — Matthew 22:19

A coin from the mouth of a fish to demonstrate His sovereignty and provision — Matthew 17:27

A borrowed tomb from which to rise in victory over death — Matthew 27:60

What’s the point?

Somehow, in His infinite wisdom, God has decided to use people like you and me to accomplish His will on earth until He returns. Not because He lacks power—but because He invites us into His work. Whether it is teaching, serving, giving, encouraging, or simply being faithful where He has placed us, the Lord graciously allows us the privilege of being part of His plan.

This week, the Lord will have need of you.
He will use you.
And it will all be according to His perfect will.

What a gift—to be needed by the King of kings.
