Daily devotion – Eyes on Israel!
Watching Israel, Watching the Hour
The events in the Middle East—particularly surrounding Israel and Iran—have taken centre stage across global news outlets. Yet as Bible-believing Christians, it is not only the conflict itself that should draw our attention, but the reaction of the nations. How the world responds to Israel often reveals far more than political strategy—it exposes spiritual alignment.
Scripture consistently brings our focus back to Israel in the last days. Jesus, in Matthew 24:32–35, gave the parable of the fig tree:
“Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near… so you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors!”
The fig tree has long been understood symbolically and scripturally as representing Israel. When on May 14, 1948, the modern state of Israel was reborn, it was as though the fig tree put forth leaves once again. A nation scattered for nearly two thousand years was restored in a single day. History turned a prophetic page.
For those who hold to a literal understanding of Daniel’s prophecy, the unfolding of Daniel 9—particularly the seventieth week—centres unmistakably upon Israel. The Church age will conclude with the catching away of believers, and God’s prophetic clock regarding Israel will move into its final appointed season.
While nations such as the United States and others play visible roles in today’s geopolitics, Scripture is notably silent regarding America as a distinct power in end-time prophecy. Why? We are not told. It may be the impact of the rapture, internal weakening, or events yet unknown—but to go beyond Scripture is speculation. We must remain where the Word is clear.
And what is clear?
The hour is late.
The world is being positioned. Alliances are forming. Hostilities are intensifying. The spiritual climate is shifting. Yet in the midst of it all, God is extending grace.
We are still living in the day of salvation.
Now is the time to speak boldly of Christ. Now is the time to pray fervently for loved ones. Now is the time to walk in holiness and expectancy. For once the Church is removed, allegiance to Christ during that coming tribulation will carry tremendous cost. To follow Him then will mean standing openly against a world system hostile to God.
Prophecy is not given to produce panic, but purity. Not speculation, but sanctification.
So let us watch Israel—but more importantly, let us watch our own hearts.
Let us lift up our heads, for our redemption draws near.
Let us redeem the time, for the days are evil.
Let us proclaim Christ while the door of grace remains open.
Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
Calvary Ladies – Tuesday 9:30am gather with the other godly women of the Church for the study of God’s Word, to pray and encourage each other in these Last Days, and to make Christ the priority of your family.
