Daily devotion – Heaven, that’s where my thoughts go and my heart looks to.

From Corruption to Glory

1 Corinthians 15:53
“For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.”

As I was driving to my nephew’s funeral service last Wednesday, my thoughts were filled with wonder—what was he seeing at that very moment? What was he experiencing? What joy must have flooded his soul as he entered into a new body, free from pain, free from cancer, and fully alive in the presence of the Lord.

It had been nearly two weeks since his “moving” from this world into glory.

When I think of Heaven, I often think of those I have known personally who are now there, along with the countless saints I have read about in God’s Word. There is a holy curiosity within us—what will Heaven truly be like? Yet perhaps that sense of wonder is part of the joy Christ has already given us, a foretaste of what is to come, ever since He removed the sting of sin and death.

Whatever we enjoy in this life, we can be certain of this: everything—yes, everything—in Heaven will be infinitely better.

One reason I believe we will receive new bodies is not only to be free from this sin-weary “tent,” but also because we will need them to fully experience and enjoy the glory of Heaven. The splendour of eternity, the presence of God, the beauty of His creation—these are things no earthly body could contain.

And then, the greatest joy of all: seeing our Lord face to face. To stand before His throne, to worship Him with all the redeemed, and to join that great company of believers—including even the thief on the cross—forever in His presence.

Psalm 16:11
“Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”

Heaven is not merely a place—it is the presence of Christ. And in His presence, there is fullness of joy… forever.
