Daily devotion – There is a peace available for you to enjoy now!
The Peace of God
Philippians 4:7
“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Colossians 3:15
“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.”
We live in a world that knows very little of true peace. While some may point out that we are not yet in a third world war, we are all keenly aware of the conflicts raging across the globe—even now. History itself testifies that only a small fraction of human existence has been marked by the absence of war.
Yet the Apostle Paul is not speaking about peace between nations. He is pointing us to something far greater—peace with God, and the resulting peace within the soul.
There is a deep unrest in humanity today. Many struggle to sleep without medication, attempting to quiet the turmoil within. The heart can feel like it is constantly churning—never still, never settled.
The late evangelist Billy Graham once said:
“You will never know the peace with God, peace of conscience, peace of mind, and peace of soul until you stand at the foot of the Cross and identify yourself with Jesus Christ by faith… this is the peace of God.”
That raises an important question:
Do you have peace with God—and the peace of God?
Or is life a daily struggle, marked by restless nights and anxious thoughts?
Many Christians live as though salvation is the only present benefit of knowing God and only when we get to Heaven will we enjoy any other blessing. But Jesus Himself said:
John 10:10
“I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
This abundant life includes peace—real, present, and available now.
How do we experience it?
Consider Mary, the sister of Martha. She found peace not in activity, but in sitting at the feet of Jesus. In His presence, her soul was quieted.
And for us today, that same place is open. We come to Him through His Word and through prayer:
Hebrews 4:16
“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
As we draw near to Him, something supernatural happens:
2 Peter 1:2
“Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord.”
Peace is not found in changing circumstances—it is found in knowing Christ.
So today, slow down. Open His Word. Come to the Cross. Sit at His feet.
And let the peace of God rule in your heart.
