From the Pastor’s Pen
Am I Growing? Another Sunday, another sermon, another portion of God’s Word opened before us—but the honest question remains: am I growing? Am I different from the last time I sat in church? Have I taken even another step forward in my walk with the Lord, or am I circling the same struggles, the same sins, the same patterns? These are not comfortable questions, but they are necessary ones. Spiritual maturity does not happen by accident—it requires attention, surrender, and obedience. It’s easy to measure our Christian life by attendance or familiarity with Scripture. We can listen to many sermons, read through entire books of the Bible, and yet remain unchanged. But God’s desire is not just that we hear His Word—it is that we are transformed by it. James reminds us: “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” (James 1:22)
Growth shows itself in the small, quiet evidences of a changed life. When was the last time I prayed for someone else with genuine burden? What sacrifices have I made for the Lord recently? Is my Bible merely owned—or is it worn, marked, and lived in? A well-used Bible often reflects a life that is being shaped by it. Our walk with God is the most important relationship we have—and also one that requires continual nurturing. Relationships do not drift forward; they drift apart if neglected. The same is true with our relationship with the Lord. Paul exhorts us in Philippians 2:12: “Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.”
This is not a call to earn salvation, but to live it out—to let what God has done within us become visible in how we think, speak, and live. It is the daily, deliberate yielding to the Holy Spirit, allowing Him to take more of us, to refine us, to draw us closer to Christ. So today, let it not be just another Sunday. Let it be a turning point. A day where we choose growth over complacency, surrender over comfort, and obedience over routine. A day where we say, “Lord, have more of me today than You did yesterday.” Because the Christian life is not about standing still—it is about pressing on. “That I may know Him…” (Philippians 3:10)

Helen’s heart
Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Lots of people say they believe in God but when asked what they believe they are hard pressed to answer. As a Christian we must know what we believe. A good understanding is 1. knowing what the Bible says 2. Knowing that the Bible says that for me. Matthew 1:21…Jesus, for it is He who will save His people from their sins. Isaiah 1:18 Tho’ your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow. John 15:4, 5. Abide in Me and I in you. He who abides in Me…bears much fruit. If your faith is real, then there will be a change in your life, you will begin to produce good works for God, you will be able to forgive and love others. And your life will have an increasing joy and peace.

Bible Prophecy Watch:
An interesting little news report this last week said that Russia had offered to be a mediator between the USA and Iran, in place of Pakistan. Let us remember that Russia and Iran will, with other nations, partner in Ezekiel 38-39, to attack Israel when Israel is enjoying a time of peace. Keep an eye on Russia over the coming weeks and months!

To help keep you warm in winter we still have a few of the latest CCSH Youth hoodies left to purchase – see Noah Carmody for further information. (a great birthday gift!)
