Sunday 17th May 2026
Welcome to Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour today!
Parents, please take the opportunity to follow up with your son or daughter from last Friday night’s CCSH Youth teaching. Pastor Keith shared an overview of Bible prophecy and the Last Days, covering topics such as the Rapture of the Church, the Tribulation period, the Second Coming of Christ and the Millennial Kingdom. These are important biblical truths for young believers to understand in the days in which we are living. We encourage parents to continue those conversations at home and help answer any further questions your children may have regarding the teaching and the Scriptures that were discussed.
We would also ask the fellowship to continue praying faithfully for our much-needed building extensions. Both Calvary Kids and Calvary Youth have now grown beyond the capacity of our current classroom facilities, which is a wonderful testimony of the Lord’s blessing and the growth of young families within the church. Please continue to pray for wisdom, provision, approvals and smooth progress until the extensions are fully completed and ready for use.
Today we begin a brand-new study through the book of Exodus during our Sunday morning service. This exciting book reveals God’s deliverance, redemption, His calling of Moses, and His faithfulness to His covenant people. We will also continue through Exodus each Wednesday evening prior to our prayer gathering. We strongly encourage the fellowship to stay current with both Sunday and Wednesday studies as they work together in helping establish the church in God’s Word and keeping everyone aligned with the direction of the Lord’s leading for CCSH.
In addition, Pastor Israel resumes tonight at 6:00pm with our evening study through the Gospel of Matthew. These evening studies have become a rich time of worship, prayer, fellowship and deeper teaching through the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. We encourage everyone who is able to join us.
It is also a blessing to see more and more people stepping forward to become part of the servant team here at Calvary. The work of ministry continues to grow, and there are many opportunities to serve the Lord and bless His people. If you would like to become involved in serving, please fill in one of the Connection Cards available at the information desk, and one of the pastoral team will follow up with you.
You may also have noticed on the church announcement slides prior to the services that we are specifically looking for young men who sense a calling toward Bible teaching and pastoral ministry to join our Junior Church Bible teaching team. Those interested are encouraged to speak with Pastor Nathanael for further information. Our desire is to help train and disciple the next generation of pastors, Bible teachers and servants of Christ. One of the greatest training grounds for learning to rightly divide and faithfully teach God’s Word is serving in Junior Church and teaching children the Scriptures week by week.

Grace Giving 2Co 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. We encourage all of you who are part of our Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour Fellowship family to give without obligation but with a cheerful heart of worship. Your gifts allow God’s work to be done in “Judea, Samaria and the uttermost parts of the world.” Account name – Calvary Chapel Church Secret Harbour Incorporated – Account – 10891970 – BSB – 066-516.

From the Pastor’s Pen
Gal 6:17 “From now on, let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.”
Almost everyone bears some sort of scar. Behind every scar there is usually a story — an accident, an illness, a surgery, a painful moment, or some deep trauma. Scars remind us that something happened, something painful was endured, yet healing also took place.
Each Sunday as the body of Christ gathers together to worship, it is truly a gathering of scars, wounds and testimonies. Some scars are visible, others hidden deep within the heart. Yet God sees every one of them.
Did you know there will only be one person in Heaven bearing scars? His name is Jesus Christ. The only man-made wounds in eternity will be the nail prints in His hands and feet and the wound in His side — eternal reminders of the love of God and the tremendous price paid for our redemption at the Cross of Calvary. John 20:27 “Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands… and be not faithless, but believing.”
As believers, faithful obedience to Christ will also leave its marks upon our lives. Sometimes those scars come through rejection, persecution, betrayal, sacrifice, hardship or faithful service to the Lord. Paul could boldly declare that he bore in his body “the marks of the Lord Jesus.” The word speaks of branding marks, signs of ownership. Paul’s sufferings testified that he truly belonged to Christ.
Sometimes we complain about the wounds we carry and ask why God allowed them. Yet Scripture reminds us that suffering for Christ is not something to be ashamed of, but something through which God can be glorified.
1Pe 4:16 “Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter.”
The more we read the Bible, the more we discover what true Christianity really looks like. It is not comfort, ease or popularity with the world. It is a life surrendered to Jesus Christ no matter the cost.
So when the Church gathers together, Heaven does not see perfect people without struggles. God sees His redeemed children, many carrying scars from battles fought, burdens borne, prayers prayed and faithful service rendered for His glory. And every scar borne for Christ is known by Him.
Rom 8:18 “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”

Helen’s heart
I had to be in my Father’s house – Luke 2:49 Mary and Joseph could not find Jesus – they turned back to Jerusalem to search for Him. They had thought He was travelling with other relatives on their return home. After three days they found Him in the temple listening and asking questions of the teachers. He was about His Father’s business. Are you hungry for the teaching of God, are you with the Psalmist who said, I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go into the house of the LORD.” Psalm 122:1.

“Our anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strengths.”
― C. H. Spurgeon

THE GOSPEL IN FOUR
WORDS IS ‘JESUS TOOK MY PLACE’
IN THREE WORDS, IT’S ‘HIM FOR ME;’
IN TWO WORDS, ITS ‘SUBSTITUTIONARY ATONEMENT;’
IN ONE WORD, IT’S
‘GRACE’.
