Daily devotion – Artificial intelligence instead of reality!

Pastor Keith   -

Luke 4:18
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.”

Much is being said and done today about artificial intelligence. AI is the simulation of human intelligence by machines—designed to learn, reason, solve problems, and recognize patterns. It can automate tasks, make decisions, and improve performance over time. Voice assistants, recommendation systems, and image recognition are now woven into everyday life.

AI is becoming so prevalent that it is increasingly difficult to discern what is real and what is artificial. In some ways, it feels like a black hole—drawing everything toward itself, pulling many into its mysterious web.

Yet man, in his continued rejection of God, keeps inventing more ways to be distracted from the realities that matter most. We are made in the image of God. We live in a fallen world. We are sinners in need of salvation. And Jesus Christ is the Rescuer who came to set us free and bring us into true reality—the reality of knowing and worshipping our Creator, our Father in heaven.

More than once, I have sat across from someone who told me they wanted to end their own life. In those moments, there is no artificial intelligence, no illusion, no entertainment—only a lost soul in deep pain, waving the white flag, ready to surrender to despair.

That is reality.

And it reminds us that we are in a spiritual battle. There is a real enemy. 1 Peter 5:8 says, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” Satan is fully engaged in the destruction of souls.

From the very beginning of His ministry, Jesus declared that man must repent. The greatest problem every human being faces is sin—and sin is killing us.

The church is not here to be a country club, a welfare society, or an entertainment centre. It exists so that lost souls may hear the truth—that through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, sinners can be forgiven, delivered, and made new.

Hollywood is pretend. Artificial intelligence is artificial. But death, heartbreak, bondage, and lostness are stark realities all around us.

What this world does not need is more artificial stimulation that cannot give peace, hope, or joy. What this world needs is a Saviour.

Jesus Christ came to heal the brokenhearted, deliver the captive, open blind eyes, and set at liberty those who are bruised.

May we, as His people, never lose sight of why the church exists—to proclaim true hope, true healing, and real salvation through Jesus Christ alone.
