Daily devotion – Sleepwalking our lives away!
Walking in Wisdom
Ephesians 5:15 – “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise.”
Wisdom is something I continually seek from the Lord—not only in making decisions, but in living a life that pleases Him in all I do.
We live in a world largely void of godly wisdom. It is rare to encounter people whose lives clearly reflect the wisdom of God at work within them. Today, there was a deep burden in my soul—to truly live for God, not selfishly, but wholly surrendered to Him in every thought and action.
As we have been teaching through the book of Acts, I have been deeply impacted by the life of the Apostle Paul. His transformation was not partial—it was total. His life became completely yielded to Christ and His service. This is the path I must walk as well.
In our text, Paul uses the word “circumspectly,” which comes from a term meaning “to look around carefully.” The original language carries the idea of precision and accuracy. Paul is urging us to walk thoughtfully, carefully, and with intentionality in our Christian lives.
The opposite is a careless life—one lived without thought, direction, or submission to God. That kind of living marked my own youth before Christ, and it is something I now look back on with deep regret.
The Christian life is not something we can leave to chance or live on spiritual autopilot. We are called to make wise decisions, continually seeking God’s will in every day, every thought, and every moment.
As a pastor, it is heartbreaking to see many who profess Christ simply drifting through life—like spiritual sleepwalkers—failing to redeem the opportunities God places before them to live for Him and serve Him.
So the question must be asked:
Are you walking in godly wisdom?
Or are you drifting—sleepwalking through the precious hours God has given you, and wasting them foolishly?
Let us walk carefully. Let us walk wisely. Let us walk with purpose—for His glory.
