Daily devotion – The compassion and love of God!

When Pharaoh’s cruelty was at its darkest, commanding that every Hebrew baby boy be cast into the Nile, God was already at work behind the scenes preparing a deliverer. Moses was not abandoned to chance or fate; he was under the sovereign protection of Almighty God from the very moment he was born.

Hebrews 11:23 says, “By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden three months by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king’s command.”

Amram and Jochebed trusted God more than they feared Pharaoh. Their faith moved them to action. Faith does not sit idle in despair; it obeys God and leaves the results in His hands. They could not control the circumstances around them, but they could trust the Lord in the middle of them.

What an amazing picture of God’s protection. Moses was safest, not in a palace surrounded by soldiers, but as a helpless baby floating in a small ark upon the Nile River. The waters that were meant to bring death became the very means God used to preserve his life. No Egyptian soldier, no crocodile, no current of the river could touch him outside of God’s permission.

How often we fear what people may do, what circumstances may bring, or what tomorrow may hold. Yet the child of God is always secure in the hands of the Lord. Our task is to walk in obedience and trust; the outcome belongs to Him.

There are seasons when we may feel forgotten, isolated, or vulnerable. Moses’ mother placed him into the river not knowing exactly how God would intervene, but knowing that God was faithful. In those moments when we feel abandoned and alone, God is often nearer than we realise, quietly working out His perfect purposes.

Isaiah 41:10 reminds us:
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee.”

Whatever waters you may be facing today, remember this: the same God who protected Moses is watching over you. Nothing can come into your life without first passing through His loving and sovereign hands.
