Daily devotion – To pray like our Lord prayed.
A Powerful Prayer Life
Mat 14:23 — “And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.”
In the midst of relentless demands, constant crowds, and the pressing need all around Him, Jesus made a deliberate choice—He withdrew to be alone with the Father. He was never too busy, never too hurried, never too distracted to pray. If anyone could have justified skipping prayer, it was Him… and yet He didn’t.
By contrast, how easily prayer becomes an afterthought in our lives. A quick sentence in the morning, a rushed request on the go, a weary whisper at night. We treat communion with God like a convenience—something squeezed in rather than something we cannot live without.
But this is not the pattern Jesus set.
When the disciples faced spiritual resistance and failure, Jesus made it clear:
Mat 17:21 — “This kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.”
There are things in life—strongholds, struggles, spiritual battles—that will never shift through human effort alone. They require a depth of prayer, a persistence, a dependence upon God that goes beyond casual words.
Jesus prayed with intention. He prayed with focus. He prayed with endurance. Sometimes for hours. Sometimes through the night. His strength, clarity, and power flowed from that continual communion with the Father.
And then we read the simple yet searching command:
1Th 5:17 — “Pray without ceasing.”
This is not a call to constant words, but to constant connection—a life that remains in fellowship with God throughout the day.
When prayer becomes our lifeline rather than our last resort, everything begins to change. Our perspective shifts. Our burdens lighten. Our faith strengthens. And God moves in ways we may never have thought possible.
This week, take time to re-evaluate your prayer life.
Not out of guilt, but out of desire—because there is more. More depth. More power. More of God.
Begin with intention. Step away from the noise. Seek Him earnestly.
And watch what He will do.
🙏 “Lord, teach us to pray—not casually, but fervently; not occasionally, but continually. Draw us away from distraction and into deeper communion with You. May our lives be marked by a powerful, abiding prayer life that brings glory to Your name. In Jesus name Amen.”
