You Are the Light of the World
Jesus said, “You are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14). He is the true Light, and we are reflectors — like the moon reflecting the sun.
Light dispels darkness. It removes fear, reduces mistakes, and brings comfort. It revives what is dying and gives life. Jesus calls us to shine openly — like a city on a hill that cannot be hidden, and like a lamp on a stand in the home.
We are not to hide our light out of fear, apathy, or busyness. Our good works — done in love and powered by the Spirit — should be visible so that people see them and glorify our Father in heaven.
Whether in the public square (the city on a hill) or in everyday life (the lamp in the house), our calling is the same: shine so others see Jesus. Let your life display the fruit of the Spirit. Let your integrity, kindness, and hope cause people to say, “They serve a great God — I want to know Him!”
The world is dark, but even a small light makes a difference. Don’t hide. Shine where you are — at home, at work, in your neighbourhood — so that your Father in heaven is glorified.
Lord Jesus, You are the Light of the world. Shine through me today. Help me live openly and boldly so others see Your goodness and give glory to You. Amen.
