Sunday 2nd August 2026
Welcome to Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour today!
This morning we celebrate the Lord’s Supper together! Let us prepare our hearts and remember our Lord with thanksgiving. 1 Corinthians 11: 26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come. 27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

From the Pastor’s Pen
1 John 2:18 “Little children, it is the last hour: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now there are many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last hour.”
The world seems to be closing in on Christianity more with each passing day. Increasingly, politicians are using their positions to openly attack biblical Christianity and the Church. Christian schools have become particular targets as activist groups seek to reshape society according to values that stand in opposition to God’s Word. Such pressure is unlikely to cease until their objectives are achieved. The Apostle John wrote nearly two thousand years ago that believers were already living in “the last hour.” That period began in his day and has continued to grow in intensity ever since. Every generation has witnessed opposition to Christ and His people, but as we move closer to the Lord’s return, we should not be surprised that the spiritual conflict becomes more visible. One of the clearest signs of our day is the alarming rise in antisemitism around the world. Satan has always opposed God’s purposes and God’s people. His hatred toward Israel has been evident throughout history, and Christians should not expect to escape such hostility either. Jesus Himself told His followers that they would be hated for His name’s sake.
The question for each of us is this: Are you aware of what is happening? A casual believer may remain largely unaware of the spiritual battle taking place. But those who are walking closely with Jesus, eagerly looking for His return, and grounded in the study of Bible prophecy will recognise the times in which we live. Rather than producing fear, this awareness should produce steadfast faith, holy living, and greater urgency in sharing the Gospel. John reminds us that believers must know what they believe and why they believe it. Discernment is essential in an age of deception. The spirit of antichrist has been active since the fall of mankind. As John writes:1 John 4:3 “And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist… and even now already is it in the world.”
From the rebellion of Satan in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3) until today, this spirit has worked behind every false doctrine, every counterfeit gospel, and every religious substitute that seeks to draw people away from the sufficiency of Jesus Christ.
Our Lord Himself warned of these days in His Olivet Discourse:
“Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many… And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many… And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold… Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Behold, I have told you before.” (Matthew 24:4–5, 11–12, 23–25)
Jesus did not give these warnings to frighten His disciples but to prepare them. The answer to deception is not fear but truth. The answer to darkness is not despair but faithfulness. As the day of Christ’s return draws nearer, may we remain anchored in God’s Word, walking in holiness, watching with expectation, and proclaiming the Gospel while there is still time.

Helen’s heart – calvary women
How precious are Your thoughts to me O God. How great is the sum of them – Psalm 139:17 I watch the birds as they feed and drink from our water fountain. They happily flit from the branches of our bottlebrush and feed off the seeds we have provided for them and then they take a drink and bathe in the water. Matthew tells us to look to them and points out we are of far greater value. As we pray and trust God we too can bask in His provision and love for us!
