Angels Watching On and Learning
Ephesians 3:10–11
“To the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
God’s eternal plan is truly amazing! Paul tells us that God intends to reveal His manifold wisdom through the Church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places—that is, to angelic beings, both faithful and fallen.
We often think of angels as messengers sent by God to minister to His people. Yet Scripture reveals something remarkable: God also uses His people to display His wisdom to the angelic realm!
Many believers give little thought to the unseen spiritual world around us. Yet God’s work in the lives of His people is part of a much greater purpose than our individual salvation and sanctification. Through the Church, God is displaying His wisdom, grace, mercy, and transforming power before the heavenly beings.
Angels see our weaknesses and struggles, and they witness the reality of life in a fallen world. Yet they also see the greatness of God’s work in those He has redeemed—how He takes sinners, saves them by His grace, transforms their lives, and brings them together as one body in Christ.
What a wonderful privilege! Our lives are not insignificant, and the Church is not merely a gathering of people who happen to believe in Jesus. We are part of God’s eternal purpose, displaying His manifold wisdom to the heavenly realm.
Think of it this way: God is the Author, the world is the stage, history is the unfolding story, and the principalities and powers are among those observing His extraordinary work through His people.
This should encourage us to walk faithfully with the Lord. Our struggles, our obedience, our love for one another, and our faithfulness to Christ all take place within the greater purposes of God. We may not fully understand the significance of our lives, but God does!
We are living out a story that is far greater than ourselves. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, God is accomplishing His eternal purpose, and His Church is part of that wonderful plan.
So let us walk worthy of our calling, live faithfully before the Lord, and remember that our lives matter far more than we may realise.
You never know who is watching—and God may be teaching the universe something of His wisdom through your life!
