Daily devotion – Another day!
Monday, a new day, the first day of the week! What does the Lord have in store for us to learn and how does He desire us to grow?
On Sunday, we sang a song reminding us that our Christian walk is not a sprint. How true that is! It is a daily walk with our Lord, learning with every step we take alongside Him.
Matthew 11:29 — “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.”
It is taking that little step in the right direction, turning away from the enemy’s allure, opening our Bible and spending precious time in the presence of the Lord. It is asking Him in prayer to lead us to an opportunity to share the wonder of Christ with someone who needs Him.
Simple, daily steps that transform us from what we once were into the children of God He desires us to be.
This week, I encourage you to find a quiet place and spend some time alone with your heavenly Father. It doesn’t need to be a long time, but pause, be still, and enjoy the precious intimacy of fellowship with Him.
As a father and grandfather, I treasure those opportunities to sit with our children and grandchildren. I cannot help but thank God from the depths of my heart for these precious moments. They are among the true treasures of walking with the Lord, and they stir within me an even greater longing for the wonder of heaven that lies ahead.
As I grow older, I find myself thinking less about the past and becoming increasingly consumed with what lies ahead. This world is not our final home! The day is coming when we will see our Saviour face to face and join the countless multitude worshipping around His throne.
Can you imagine that moment?
Revelation 5:11–12 — “And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.”
And the worship will not stop there!
Revelation 5:13 — “And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.”
What a glorious day that will be! Every trial behind us, every tear wiped away, and our eyes fixed upon the One who loved us and gave Himself for us.
Until that day, let us keep walking with Him, learning from Him, serving Him, and sharing His love with those around us. Our journey may sometimes be difficult, but our destination is certain for all who belong to Christ.
Soon, we’ll be home! Even so, come, Lord Jesus!
