Pastor’s Desk
2Sa 11:1-2 In the spring of the year, the time when kings go out to battle, David sent Joab, and his servants But David remained at Jerusalem. It happened, late one afternoon, when David was walking on the roof of the king’s house, that he saw from the roof a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful. When the weather had turned to the warmer days, the battles would be fought between David and his enemies. But one time when David should have been at battle against the enemy on behalf of the Lord and the people of Israel, he decided to stay home and send someone else off to do his task. It was to be a decision that David would regret for the rest of his life. In our conflict with the enemy of God, we cannot lower our guard, or think that we can step out of the battle and do other things! When Paul taught us to put on the armour of God, the language he used is that of putting it on once and never taking it off. Paul went on to say we wrestle not with flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the world…Keep in prayer, keep in the Word, keep in fellowship and you will not be overtaken by the enemy.
Helen’s Heart
And in the morning rising a great while before the day He went out and departed to solitary place and there prayed Mark 1:35 Jesus was no doubt exhausted from His busy itinerary of preaching, healing and casting out demons. But we see Him rising before daylight and quietly communing with God the Father. As the dawn approached it was interrupted with the demands of the day. “Everyone’s looking for you.” This is an important lesson for us – in order to have strength and wisdom to meet the demands of our day we need to have that early morning meeting with our heavenly Father. Don’t miss it.! Helen Women’s Bible study and prayer meeting in recess over holidays.
